GDS (Global Distribution System) is an IT system used by Travel Agents to book flight tickets, hotels, car rentals and cruises. At present there are about 650,000 travel agents using GDS. In addition these travel agents, hundreds of on-line booking websites also use the data to sell rooms.

There are 4 GDSs worldwide: Sabre, Amadeus, Galileo and Worldspan. The advantages of integrated GDS connectivity are: the complete integration in the booking engine makes it very easy to use rates and availabilities (promotional, negotiated and corporate) only need to be updated on Webhotelier. If your hotel is already represented on a GDS, Webhotelier can interface with the technical platform already in use.
